ABOUT MANDALA STUDIOS...
I thought naming my private coaching business Mandala Studios was quite apropos. In Buddhism, Mandalas are sand paintings which are colorful, intricate designs created by a group of people over several days, and then ritualistically destroyed, signifying the impermanence of life. For me, this translates perfectly into the acting world. What we do is so much about the process of creativity, and the deep personal connections we achieve with strangers in such a short amount of time. We put up a show and then we tear it down. We move on to the next creation - with new sand and new people - and we start all over again. The impermanence of life, indeed. Mandalas are said to be the "representation of the unconscious self." With each project we gain a deeper understanding, a deeper connection with your unconscious self.
As it happens, Mandala was also the name of our dog when I was a kid, but I didn't know then how significant her name would become!
